The Real Meaning of Christmas

Just a short post to be honest.
Christmas is about family.
It doesn’t matter what your beliefs or non beliefs what better a way to close the year
And when we say family not just the ones related by blood either.
Time to take a bit out and think about our community as a whole and how we contribute to it.

It is easy to get caught up in the religious and consumerist arguments but we could be here all day.
Yes Christmas and the tree, holly, log etc are all largely borrowed from Yuletide a North European pagan festival.
No Jesus was probably not born in December but yes Christianity did by and large borrow elements of it and called it Xmas or Christmas.
Personally I don’t care.

Why? It is an opportunity to speak, see, meet, talk to family, give and receive presents and see out the old year and welcome in the new. And yes probably it is the one time of year we are even more conscious of giving to those less fortunate than ourselves.
I love it. Yes even though I get dragged screaming and kicking into it each year, once in I love it. (Bar those damn perfume adverts)

A few days where I don’t work but just chill with my nearest and dearest. Love it. Happy Christmas season.
